A new machine joins the yard: a small crane truck with a hook on a real swinging rope. Use it to lift loads or to pull a stuck vehicle out of the pit, even with someone still inside. This build also adds a reset switch for the digging pit, moves the landslides out onto the roads, and fixes up the tugboat and barge.
New: small crane truck
- Find it in the yard next to the other vehicles, or order one from the garage menu.
- Drive it like any other vehicle. Hold right mouse (LB on a gamepad) to work the crane instead. The wheels and camera stay still while you do.
- Crane controls while holding right mouse: A / D swings the boom, W / S raises and lowers it, Shift extends it and Space pulls it back in.
- Mouse wheel works the winch. Scroll down once to start letting rope out, scroll up once to start winding it in, and scroll the other way to stop.
- E hooks, Q lets go. Lower the hook onto a crate, prop or vehicle and press E to grab it.
- The hook hangs on a real rope. It swings, and loads sway as you move the boom, so take it slow.
- Vehicle rescue. Stuck a truck in a hole? Hook it and lift it out. This works with the driver still inside, so you can lift them clear and they can drive straight off.
- The support legs come down to the ground when you start using the crane while stopped.
New: pit reset switch
- A control panel beside the digging pit puts the pit back the way it started. Walk up to it and press F (Y on a gamepad).
- It counts down from 10 and warns everyone before anything happens. Anyone can press it again to cancel.
- Anyone standing or parked in a dug-out hole is lifted clear and set back down when the ground is back. Loose dirt chunks in the pit are cleared away.
- Only the digging pit is reset. Landslides and the dirt piles in the bays are left alone.
- The switch has a 2-minute cooldown after each reset.
Landslides
- Landslides now come down across the roads instead of inside the pit, where they were hard to dig out.
- A landslide only appears when someone takes the job from Gary. The roads stay clear until then.
- The landslide stays until it is completely dug out, even if everyone leaves. The next one comes down the next time someone takes the job.
Dirt chunks
- Many more dirt chunks can be lying around before the oldest ones disappear: 100 instead of 40.
- Chunks loaded into a dump truck are no longer removed while you are still filling it.
- A barrier at the shredder stops vehicle wheels dropping into the gap under it. Buckets still reach over it to tip into the hopper.
Boats
- The tugboat's propellers spin again when you throttle up.
- The barge is towed on two ropes. Press T near the front of the barge and two ropes run from its front corners to the back of the tug, then pull in to about 20 m. Press T again to let go.
- The barge no longer jumps to the back of the tug when you hook up, which used to leave anything parked on it behind in the water.
- The tug is a little slower while it is towing.
- Chat shows your name while you drive a boat. It used to say "Player".
Please try
- Lift a crate, then a vehicle, with the crane truck. Then lift a vehicle with a friend driving it.
- Try the crane with a gamepad: hold LB and use the sticks.
- Dig some holes in the pit, stand or park in one, and press the reset switch. Try cancelling a countdown too.
- Take the landslide job from Gary, find the landslide on the road and dig it out.
- Fill a dump truck with the excavator and check none of the chunks vanish.
- Tow the barge around the harbour with the tug, with some turns and stops.
Known
- Vehicles parked on the barge can still slide off while it is being towed.
- Digging the dirt piles in the delivery bays can leave dark floating shards that can tip the skidsteer.
- The skidsteer bucket can occasionally swing the long way round to reach a small tilt.
- Jump sometimes stops working after getting in and out of vehicles.
- The big harbour crane does not respond properly to a gamepad yet.
