Welcome to The Grand Strategy Overhaul!
Over the past months, I took all of your feedback and focused on a total rebuild of the game's core architecture. Instead of releasing temporary band-aid fixes, I took the time needed to deliver the deep, stable, and feature-rich grand strategy experience this game was meant to be.
Today marks a massive milestone. Major systems have been rebuilt from the ground up to bring real strategic depth, dynamic economies, deeper diplomacy, historical era identity, and smooth performance across the board. Whether you are returning or stepping into the game for the first time, it is now in its strongest and most complete state yet.
Here is a full breakdown of everything included in this overhaul:
🏛️ Economy, Construction & Population
Build Your Nation: Construct factories, settlements, and coastal ports directly on your territory to expand your regional power.
Manpower Matters: Settlements provide your empire's military manpower. Every army recruitment now draws directly from available manpower, making conquest and military planning strategic.
Population Limits: Starting armies now correctly count towards your national population cap.
Unified Treasury: All national spending is merged into one clear, easy-to-manage treasury system.
Smarter AI Economy: AI nations now build infrastructure, manage resources, and grow their own economies over time.
Visual Income: Earnings from trains, caravans, and naval trade display dynamically right above the building that generated them.
⚓ Maritime Trade & Naval Warfare
Dynamic Trade: Ports generate merchant ships that travel along active trade routes, returning valuable revenue to your home harbor.
Piracy & Privateering: Warships can intercept non-allied trade vessels, capture them, and escort them back to your ports for cash. Captured ships update their flags to reflect their new owner.
Naval Warfare: Warships actively scan, target, and engage enemy fleets across the seas.
Era-Specific Fleets: Naval units feature historic artwork, smooth turning mechanics, and national flags.
Improved Navigation: Reworked coastal spawning, sea lanes, and narrow straits. Small, unsuitable bodies of water no longer allow unrealistic trade loops.
Lively Seas: Increased merchant traffic across global trade routes while maintaining high performance.
Direct Port Production: Click any port on the map, including captured ones, to build warships directly above the harbor.
🚂 Railways & Trade Routes
Era Transport: Medieval campaigns feature trade roads with horse carts, WWII campaigns use period trains, and modern campaigns feature high-speed railway designs.
Visual Polish: Updated route textures, line thickness, and vehicle scale. Carriage movement through bends and curves is now seamless.
Regional Connections: Routes connect nearby infrastructure within realistic distances instead of stretching endlessly across the map. Land routes intelligently bypass ocean tiles.
Network Expansion: Constructing new buildings automatically expands your transport network.
Paced Movement: Transport speeds are tuned for a grounded, realistic feel.
⚔️ Armies, AI & Warfare
Larger Scale: Expanded recruitment pools and military caps to support massive battles.
Defensive AI: AI nations secure their city garrisons before committing remaining forces to offensives.
Active Units: Resolved issues where pre-existing armies stood idle on the map.
Performance Optimization: Distributed AI decisions and recruitment tasks across multiple frames to eliminate lag spikes.
Siege Mechanics: Cities can only be taken once all defending forces are eliminated. Occupation takes longer, giving defenders time to react.
Border Control: Foreign troops cannot enter neutral territory without an explicit military access agreement.
Combat Refinements: Reworked rebel spawns and combat logic. Improved combat effects, projectile angles, unit formations, and movement.
Quality of Life: Improved target tracking for moving units and smooth fade-outs for attack markers.
Note: Removed nuclear mechanics from gameplay to keep the focus on core grand strategy systems.
📜 Trade, Politics & Research
Deeper Strategy: Replaced minigames with full, ongoing strategic systems.
Expanded Diplomacy: Added detailed commodity trading, national resource reserves, trade doctrines, and maritime programs.
Meaningful Policies: Government policies feature real trade-offs between growth, military strength, stability, and war exhaustion.
Political Systems: Integrated parliamentary seats and public approval into government management.
Unified Research Tree: Merged development branches into one tech tree with clearer costs, requirements, and expanded hover previews.
Note: Removed side minigames like TV piracy and defense hacking to focus on grand strategy.
🎨 Interface & Visuals
Era Interfaces: Custom command UI layouts for Medieval, WWII, and Modern eras with period textures, typography, and colors.
Unified Panel: Combined construction, research, trade, diplomacy, and politics into one main command window.
War Tracker: Added a persistent war panel on screen showing active conflicts and opposing flags.
Flag Identity: Swapped generic text labels for clear national flags across all menus.
Interface Tweaks: Improved tooltips, panel layering, mouse cursors, and research previews. Fixed trade window scaling on unusual screen resolutions.
Map Graphics: Updated visuals for settlements, trade hubs, ports, and captured cities.
🌍 World Map & Campaign Improvements
Seamless Map: Added horizontal camera wrapping so you can scroll continuously around the globe.
Clean Map Borders: Improved map edges and seam transitions.
Fixed Locations: Preserved hand-placed cities and carrier spawn points.
Smoother Startup: Improved country selection and campaign launch sequences, fixing color overlaps between player and AI nations.
⚙️ Performance & Localization
Major Optimization: Fully optimized pathfinding, unit updates, target scanning, and AI logic for smooth gameplay.
Frame Rate Stability: Capped single-frame unit spawns to stop sudden stutters during recruitment.
Localization Overhaul: Updated translations across all nine supported languages, including full font coverage and right-to-left support for Arabic.
🚀 What’s Coming Next (Roadmap)
This overhaul establishes a solid foundation for the game, and the roadmap ahead is exciting:

New Scenarios & Content: Expanded historical scenarios, map updates, and new playable nations will follow.
