Five years ago, we invited you to step into Warsaw City of the 22nd century for the first time. Since then, Gamedec has come a long way - from its original PC release, through the Definitive Edition and console versions, to becoming Steam Deck Verified. Most importantly, thousands of detectives have entered virtual worlds, followed their own leads, made their own deductions, and discovered just how far the consequences of a single decision can reach.

To celebrate Gamedec's 5th Anniversary, we're returning to the game one more time with a free Anniversary Update – available now!

This update is our way of saying thank you to everyone who has been part of Gamedec over the years. It introduces two new community-selected Gamedec avatars, while also revisiting several systems and quality-of-life elements across the entire game.

Whether you're investigating your first case or returning to Warsaw City to see how differently things could have played out, this is a great time to put on your Gamedec shoes again.

New Avatars - Liora & Mara

Earlier this year, we asked the community to choose two out of four new Gamedecs to join the game.

You voted across Steam, Discord and our social media channels—and the winners were Liora Serrano and Mara Wysocka. Both are now available as playable avatars in Gamedec, complete with their own starting aspects that can influence which possibilities open up during your investigations.

Liora Serrano – Sensory-World Scenographer

An improviser who once designed sensory worlds capable of triggering carefully selected emotions through colors, textures and sounds. Liora left the industry after discovering that one of her creations was being used to manipulate its players. Now, as a Gamedec, she has learned to look beyond appearances and spot hidden intentions where others might only see carefully constructed spectacle.

Mara Wysocka – Memory Profiler

An inquisitive former corporate memory profiler who spent years reconstructing other people's memories. After discovering that someone's mind could become the perfect crime scene - and witnessing the truth being legally erased – Mara walked away from her career. As a Gamedec, she puts her faith in evidence rather than people... even as she begins to question her own memories.

Rebalanced Proffesions Costs

Gamedec was always designed around building your detective through the decisions you make rather than forcing you into a predefined class. However, some Profession costs could make particular development paths unnecessarily restrictive.

The Anniversary Update rebalances these costs to give you more freedom when developing your Gamedec, making it easier to pursue the abilities that fit the detective you want to play without feeling pushed towards choices or playstyles you weren't interested in.

Other changes

• The English localization has received an extensive revision, covering the game's writing, consistency and numerous smaller errors accumulated across such a dialogue-heavy RPG.

• We've revised deduction choice descriptions to make the available conclusions clearer.

• The Codex has received several quality-of-life improvements designed to make managing all those discoveries more convenient. Most notably, you can now mark all Codex entries as read.

• Characters are now more patient and forgiving during conversations, reducing situations where selecting a particular dialogue option could unintentionally make further interaction unavailable.

• Menus and interactive elements should now provide clearer and more immediate feedback, making navigating investigations, dialogues and the game's different systems feel more responsive.

The 5th Anniversary Update is available now and completely free for all Gamedec owners.
