On the field
Defenders chase the man with the ball. Fix issue with defenders and blockers reacting to the wrong receiver when a ball is caught.
Blockers block for the right man. After a catch like that, blockers also kept working for the original target, and the targeted receiver could stop dead at the end of his route while the quarterback looked elsewhere. Blocks now follow the ball, and receivers keep running their routes until the ball is thrown.
Routes along the sideline finish. An outside route could end just past where the receiver was allowed to run, so he never reached the end of it and never broke into his next move. Routes now finish inside the field.
No more phantom drift at the sideline. A player standing still at the edge of the field could register as moving out of bounds, which threw off the defenders pursuing him and his own next step. He now reads as standing still.
The ball stays in the receiver's hands on the catch. For one frame at the catch, the ball could show up where the pass was headed instead of in the receiver's hands, and the camera followed it. It now sits with the receiver.
Desktop app
Fullscreen. Press F11, or use the new toggle in Settings. The game remembers your choice the next time you launch it. Be sure to experiment with UI Scale in settings to improve the experience in large windows.
Your settings follow you through Steam Cloud. UI Scale, whether hints are on, and which hints you've already seen used to live only on one machine. They're now saved next to your save files, so Steam Cloud syncs them along with your saves. Your current settings move over automatically the first time you launch.
Schedules
The Pro preseason changes every year. Every season in a save used to play exactly the same preseason: the same three opponents, at the same stadiums. The preseason now rotates, so the same slate won't come back for 31 seasons, and every team gets one or two home games. A save picks this up at its next new season.
College conference games rotate. The conference schedule was reshuffled at random every year, so two teams in the same conference could go eleven seasons without playing each other, and some pairs always played at the same team's stadium. Rivalry games are still played every year, and the rest of the conference now rotates in order: every conference pair meets at least every five seasons, and home and away switch each time they meet. Also from your save's next new season.
Your team
Rest and suspension decisions stick. When a situation in your inbox had you rest a player or suspend him, he still played that week. He now sits out that game, shown as Day-to-Day, and he's back the following week. Players held out also no longer pick up stats for a game they didn't play.
Running backs split carries by how good they are. Carries used to be split purely by depth chart, so a better back never earned a bigger share. The split now follows your backs' ratings, keeps your depth chart order, and caps any one back at half the carries when you have three healthy backs. With only one or two, a workhorse can still carry the load.
You can't lose a job offer by pressing Continue. With a job in hand, you could press Continue on the Coaching Carousel and quietly lose the offer you were guaranteed. That offer now shows up as soon as the carousel opens, and the game won't move on until you've answered it.
Stats and the booth
Touchdown totals add up. Player touchdowns used to be estimated from the team's points, so field goals, return scores and two-point tries could be handed out as extra passing and rushing touchdowns. In one season we checked, quarterbacks and receivers were credited with 855 touchdowns for 698 actual passing scores. Player totals now come from the touchdowns that were actually scored, and they match exactly.
Interceptions go to the right quarterback. A game where the only turnover was a fumble could still charge a quarterback with an interception. Interceptions now match the team's real count, including zero.
Muffed punts count as turnovers. A muffed punt recovered by the kicking team now shows up in the box score as a fumble lost and a turnover by the receiving team.
Receiving stats are fixed. One catch could count as two touchdowns, a team could be credited with more passing touchdowns than completions, and a strong blocking fullback could take the lead running back's catches. None of that happens now.
Drive yardage includes penalties. The booth announced a 90-yard touchdown drive with a false start in it as a 95-yard drive. Drive totals are now measured from where the drive started to where it ended, so penalty yards count either way, just as on a real broadcast.
Fixes
Skip buttons work while you watch. A press now always registers and takes effect at the next point where the game can safely skip.
