📢 Announcement from the Terminal! 📢

This is Günther Gewinn speaking. My airports never sleep, and as of today neither do you: as Managing Director, it is my honor to announce Version 1.1 of our game, the Night Shift Update! To mark the occasion, I've brought you a glimpse from Starville, my first airport where you can work the night shift:

🌙 Starville 🌙

In Starville, your baggage arrives from two inputs at once. As soon as you have completed Hall 1, you can take the job in my office, you don't need to have played through Hamville first.

🕐 Night Shift 🕐

Different rules apply on the night shift, but I expect the same diligence in your workflow. Denise, for example, says she can't get the hang of shift work at all so far, but somehow the decorating still works out. Anyway, here's the short version:

  • Night bonus: you earn $0.50 extra salary for every valid piece of baggage when you complete the job.
  • Shop prices are 10% higher at night. Horst says he needs the money "to motivate his biceps".
  • Unlocking gates costs 50% more during night shifts.

🐈 Walter and Kosmo 🐈

You are not entirely alone at night. I hired Walter Wachsam, for instance (great guy!). Walter simply has a whole lot of experience in being watchful, and at the start of your first shift he tells you how this whole working at night thing goes. He's basically like Ute, just not as cheerful, but more watchful! You'll also meet this cat in every night shift airport, I don't really know how she keeps getting in here. In any case, you can pet Kosmo. You should pet Kosmo!

🛒 Five New Shop Objects 🛒

You can use all five in every job, not only at night:

  • Elevator: lifts baggage 2m upward, accident-free (see the GIF above).
  • Straight (3m): a fast 3m conveyor belt. It can also pick up parcels from Horst in the parcel zone.
  • Passage (3m): a high, 5m wide bridge with a 3m wide passage underneath.
  • Storage (x25): has 25 storage spots instead of only 10 like the previous storage unit.
  • Counter: counts +1 every time something is pushed through, and records that number for today and for all time.

💰 Retirement Savings Safe 💰

For all of you who have long since collected more money than you can spend (I do understand, after all you earn so well working here), there is now a safe under the stairs in your home that you can use to pay into your retirement savings. For every deposit into your retirement savings, you get a starting bonus from me whenever you begin a new job. Simply because I'm especially fond of employees who won't be a burden on the company in old age. It's just important to look after yourself!

🔬 New Skill: Research and More Room for New Jobs 🔬

To do justice to your endless motivation to work, you can now invest your leftover skill points into the "Research" skill without any limit. For every point in Research, you start a new job with + 1 UP and can get your automation running faster. On top of that, there are now 5 more save slots for starting new jobs, so 10 in total. It would be a shame if you ever ran out of work!

⚖️ New Benefits and Burdens ⚖️

A quick reminder of how this works: before a new job starts, you sit down with me for the Situation Briefing. That's where you decide under which conditions you work this job: benefits make the work easier for you, burdens make it harder. Each of them counts points toward the Situation, and only once the situation is Balanced do I clear the job. So anyone treating themselves to a benefit takes on a burden in the same breath.

As of today you have four new options:

  • Benefit Ascent: speed of bridges, elevators and small corners + 50%.
  • Benefit Industry 2.0: every purchased sorter starts with one speed upgrade.
  • Burden Economic Crisis: shop prices + 20%.
  • Burden 60th Birthday: you cannot throw anymore. Your arms aren't what they used to be.

So you don't forget what you signed up for, every job now has a Benefits and Burdens TV that lists all active modifiers with icon, name, balance and effect. Every job also has a TV with your baggage statistics: the current day, how much baggage you have handled correctly and wrongly in this job, and your accuracy.

🌙 The Night Shift DLC 🌙

You wish to take on even more night shifts? As Managing Director, I like to hear that. Also available today is the Night Shift DLC: three more airports with over 10 hours of additional playtime, all running under the same night shift rules. Once the DLC is installed, you can take the three new jobs in my office.

Newfield: two baggage inputs on different levels. The new elevator could be just the right thing here.

Hightower: a narrow, very tall hall where you work on two floors. A door on the ground floor takes you to the upper level, and the baggage gets back down all by itself: through gravity.

Meadowvale: two separate halls for experts, connected only at the gates. Both halls have every output, so you should run all checks in both halls.

✨ Quality of Life & Balancing ✨

  • UP Sounds can now be muted in the audio settings, right below XP Sounds.
  • If you own the Executive Chair, the notice in my office now disappears after 5 seconds instead of 15. That long, it used to stay on top of the interface and cover your display while you were already talking to me.
  • Several performance improvements, especially for large airports with many buildings and conveyor belts.
  • The level 4 speed upgrade of the Sorter (Tag) cost $2,000. That was too much, it is now $1,200.

🐞 Bug Fixes 🐞

  • The Lost & Found delivery quest in the tutorial could fail to complete in rare cases, which left the tutorial stuck.
  • You could place a building inside yourself and end up outside of the level. Entertaining as it was, this is now fixed.
  • Parcels in a baggage cart were counted as baggage, snapped into place and showed "+1" and "-1" pop-ups.
  • Baggage you stored in your backpack from a baggage cart still counted as part of that cart.
  • Sorters could still process baggage that was already in your backpack.
  • The scale did not reset when you stored the baggage on it in your backpack.
  • Sorters and storage units placed next to each other could hand over baggage even when they stood at different heights.
  • The substance sniffer ignored "Flip" right after being built, so the direction reset on every load.

🛫 Thanks for reading 🛬

Thanks for reading, and have fun on the night shift! 🌙🧳

And always remember: airport operations tolerate no negligence, not even at night (Walter is watchful)!

Stable regards,
Günther!
