Contribute Steam keys to SteamDB

There are several benefits to providing SteamDB with Steam keys:

• Ownership allows our system to download and track file lists in each depot, generating detailed patch notes automatically for every update (example patches list, individual patch example)
• We identify and catalog the engines and technologies a game uses (see list here)
• For non-public games (like beta versions for Kickstarter backers), we can gather and display common information
• For games in Advanced Access, ownership enables us to track player numbers (more info)

Submitting a key is a wonderful way to say "thank you" to SteamDB for the services we provide to the gaming community. Many developers have benefited from our tracking tools, historical data, and community insights — contributing a key helps us continue improving our platform while supporting the ecosystem that benefits both players and developers alike.

If you have a publisher key (for press, friends, or family) which grants access to all your current and future releases, that's a great way to make SteamDB automatically keep up with all your releases. Submit just one key, and SteamDB will automatically track all your games. Even if you don't have a catch-all key, one key per game is also good!

You may also send a game through the curator system to "SteamDB"

• After activation, all keys are hashed (SHA1) in our database, making the original Steam key inaccessible
• We store only hashed keys for statistics and preventing duplicates
• We never sell or share these keys with anyone
• Successfully activated keys will update the package name on our site
• If our system already owns the game, you can reuse the key as we no longer store the original
• Important: We operate multiple bots in different regions ( Europe, China, Russia, United States, Brazil, Thailand, Japan, Turkey, South Korea). If a key is region restricted, we will keep trying to activate it on the next regional bot, as activation is the only way to identify the package name a key belongs to. This means your key may still be consumed even if one bot already owns the game. Only submit keys you intend to lose.

If a key was already used before submitting it to us, and the bot already owns the game it will still say Bot already owns this instead of Key already used. Some keys Timeout on the bot account, unfortunately even retrying does not help.

When your key is successfully activated, you'll receive:

• A donator badge on SteamDB
• Donator role in our Discord community

You have to be logged in when submitting a key. Key activation isn't instantaneous upon submission.
